Welcome!
Hello to my EFL 537 classmates!
I am taking full advantage of Jeff’s offer to make our “web presence” through a blog rather than through kompozer. I was getting fed up with that program and the back and forth between kompozer to the wtp thing was even worse!
I am looking forward to officially starting this blog and meeting new people in the education field. Although I am currently teaching first and second grade ELL students, I know that this will not always be the case and I want to expose myself to as many variations in the field of ESOL as possible, including TEFL and language learners all over the world. Please feel free to use this blog as a space to share your feelings and experiences in ESOL and EFL, and ask questions to others about their experiences as well. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Audra,
I just finished a good article in the “Reading Teacher” December 2007/January 2008 Vol.61, No.4 : “Modified Guided Reading: Gateway to English as a Second Language and Literacy Learning”. It is a great resource, the following are topics:
~ Why Modify for ELLs?
~Theory to Practice
~Planning and Teaching a Guided Reading Lesson for ELLs
~MGR Lesson Planning Framework
~Shared Reading
~Reading the Text
~Returning to the Text
~Responding to the text
~Word Work
~MGR in the classroom
~Creating and Gaining Meaning from Text
It’s a long article but worth the read. If you would like me to make a copy for you, just let me know.
